OOF X Umbro@headingTag>
When is a football shirt more than just a football shirt? When it is a piece of art!
Together with OOF we are introducing two limited edition artist-designed shirts that blend sportswear with artistic expression. This collaboration marks our second partnership with OOF, and this time our focus turns to artists Rachel Maclean and Hank Willis Thomas, each contributing a unique design.
Rachel Maclean, a Scottish artist known for her work that intersects cuteness, pop culture, and unsettling themes, has created a jersey featuring a distorted smiley face emoji, designed in vibrant neon pink and yellow.
Hank Willis Thomas is an acclaimed American artist whose work addresses issues of oppression, racism, and the legacies of slavery. His shirt design is influenced by his involvement with the Wide Awakes collective, which emerged after the 2020 USA elections to advocate for cultural change. The design features a prominent eye in black and white stripes, reflecting themes of awareness and awakening.
Both shirts are limited to 360 pieces each – they can be worn during recreational play or displayed as art, merging the worlds of sports and artistic design.
Available at www.umbro.co.ukand www.oofgallery.com both £65 from Friday 22nd November at 13:00 GMT.
