Who Are You? UMBRO SS25

Umbro and the Northern Quarter go way back…

The Northern Quarter is where the idea of Umbro started. Here is where our founder, Harold Humphrys learnt everything about the textile industry and where he was inspired to found his own company, his own brand. This is where we began, and this is where we continue to evolve today.

The Northern Quarter itself has seen it all—booming industry, decline, and resurgence through music, fashion, and football. The relentless creative spirit that runs through our DNA. For over 100 years, we've adapted, redefined, and pushed forward.

The Northern Quarter collection for Spring/Summer '25 reflects that journey—honouring our sportswear heritage while embracing the creative energy that keeps this neighbourhood and the city of Manchester moving forward.

We've taken some of our most iconic pieces—like the '90s drill tops and the 1998 England track jacket—and reworked them for the next generation. The Zip-Off Sleeve Wind Jacket transforms with removable sleeves and a concealed hood. The Washed Drill Top and Washed Diamond Drill Sweat take classic silhouettes and give them a fresh, lived-in look with washed cotton and integrated pocket details. Every piece is designed to feel familiar yet new—rooted in our heritage but made for right now.

The campaign isn't just about the clothes, it's about the people who define the Northern Quarter today. Shot by Manchester-based photographer Jay Johnson, our campaign spotlights local creatives who embody the energy and community spirit of this neighbourhood.

Jefe – a barber, a former basketball player, and a voice for mental health awareness. His shop in the Northern Quarter is more than a place for a trim, it's a space for real conversations. Through his Instagram content, he's breaking down stigmas around men's mental health, and he regularly gives free haircuts to those in need.

Seb Dixon – the man behind Gone Fishing Vintage, a hub for some of the best vintage Umbro pieces around. His story is pure Northern Quarter, he landed his shop after a chance conversation at The Castle, one of the area's historic pubs. He knows everyone, and everyone knows him.

Tomas Gittins – a Manchester-based artist who uses the Northern Quarter as his canvas. His raw, expressive "Poortraits" capture personal narratives with striking depth. For this campaign, he created a bespoke piece of art outside of our office at 29 Dale Street, blending Umbro's story with the Northern Quarter's ever-evolving landscape.

People make the Northern Quarter what it is: creative, vibrant, and real. And over the next few weeks, we’ll highlight stories from our Northern Quarter locals.

The Northern Quarter collection drops March 13th.

It's a celebration of where we've been, where we are, and where we're headed.
