Ireland 20/21 Home & Away Kits
In the 1960s and then again between 1994 and 2017, the Republic of Ireland national football team proudly wore Umbro…and now the team will wear the iconic double diamond again from today for a six-year period.
Today the long-anticipated Home and Away jerseys are going on sale and here you can have a closer look at them.
The men’s Home jersey is inspired by the extremely popular 2010 Home jersey, which offered a classic, tailored and extremely smart jersey in a deeper shade of green.
Picking up on these key design cues, the body of the new home jersey has been created from a pine green marl fabric. The contrasting collar is a flat-knit rib with thin stripes of pine green and gold, echoing the colours of the FAI crest and giving the jersey a strong sense of identity and belonging.
Other design details include a white cuffed sleeve as well as a white Eire sign-off below the back neckline.
The brilliant white men’s Away jersey features a matt/shine jacquard with a pattern that has been created using graphic shapes from previous kits. This shirt strongly taps into the trend of 90s jacquard print football jerseys, which Umbro is well known for. The contrasting V-shaped neckline has a thin bright orange stripe that links back with the crest and underlines the national identity of the kit.
Like on the home jersey, the Eire sign-off has been placed below the neckline on the back of the top.
Small white side panels with the jacquard graphic provide a pop on the stretch-woven pine green shorts. The smart look is completed with pine-green cuffed white socks with a cotton footbed.
Both women’s jerseys have their very own identity, inspired by paintings of Medb, a mythological Celtic goddess, who embodied power and the abundance of Earth.
The body of the women’s fit Home jersey is made from a matt/shine jacquard featuring a pattern of interlocked celtic symbols. The neckline features a contrast collar with a golden stripe, linking up with the colours of the FAI crest. The Eire sign-off has also been placed on the back of the jersey, just below the neckline. The sleeves have been cuffed in brilliant white to further enhance the sense of national identity.
White women’s fit stretch-woven shorts with pine green side panels and pine green socks with a cotton footbed complete the look.
The brilliant white Women’s Away jersey features a feminine, delicate print version of the jacquard used on the Home jersey. A V-shaped neckline features a bright orange stripe creating a visual hook-up with the crest. Other design cues include the Eire sign-off on the back and the pine green cuffs on the sleeves.
The women’s team will play in pine-green women’s fit shorts with contrast side panels in white. The look is rounded off with pine green-cuffed white socks.
